The Resident Advisory Group at Garden View Village along with Kathy King, Resident Advisor, were kind enough to organize an Easter Egg Hunt for the Red Group this past Wednesday. We used our Bunny Bags created the day before to collect our treasures!

Afterwards we headed downstairs to hand out the Spring Chick crafts we had made to our senior friends and thank them for a very fun time!

We couldn't help but check out our goodies when we got back to the Golden Room!

The Blue Group will also get to do the same hunt next Wednesday, but the Red Group is going to try their hardest not to tell them what we got so that they can be surprised, too!

Signs of Spring!

Spring Mural

Sanding our walking sticks

Finding signs of spring in the garden!

A beautiful day for sanding!

Sanding under our tree

The blue group did a great job with oral story telling with found objects outside. Ask your child to tell you what happened to our bunny in the "bunny story"!

Agriculture in the Classroom!

Jenna Beckley from Three Bar Ranch came to talk to us about the animals at her ranch. She has 3500 animals! Ask your child what animals she told us she has on her ranch and what she grows in her garden. She told us some of her animal's names (ask your child about her names for her sheep and pigs!). Mrs. Burgess learned that a baby turkey is called a poult. Mrs. Beckley also told us about the haying process. She told us about the seeder, hopper, fertilizer, wheel line for irrigation, swather and rake. We then got to see a variety of eggs, which we loved! Ask us how many chicken eggs would fit inside of a goose egg! The tiniest egg we saw was a quail egg and the largest egg was saw was an emu egg!

Returning to Garden View!

The blue group was very excited about returning to Garden View Village today! When we got there, Dianne was waiting at the door for us, along with Helen. Dianne told us how much she missed us, and showed off that she was using a walker now instead of a wheel chair (she still beats us everywhere we go though!). We had our snack with Dianne and Thelma and told them all about our spring break! After our snack, we read a story about spring and continued our discussion that we’ve been having this week about seasonal changes. We completed our own five senses charts related to spring and Mrs. Burgess was really impressed with all of the great ideas we came up with! Ask your child to describe each picture and see if they can remember any of the other ideas kids had. We then went downstairs and visited with a whole bunch of our senior friends. It is so rewarding to see the smiles around the table when we come down to visit! We showed them our spring charts and talked about our spring break. We then asked if it was ok to trace their hands for an art project we have planned. All of the kids did a great job tracing and we are very excited to see what the final products will look like (stay tuned!).
