Take Me Outside Day: Winter Edition!

Due to the chilly weather, we decided to cancel our field trip to Camp Stone and set up some outdoor stations at our school instead. Although we were very sad not to have a campfire and learn from the kids from Selkirk and the Alternate School, we made the best of it with fun in the snow at the school! Ask your child about the stations they took part in and who they played with. Thanks to Ms. Kinsey and her grade 2 class for being such great buddies!

Welcome to 2017!

We've had a chilly start to 2017! Despite the colder temperatures, we managed to get outside for long enough to create a class size 'fire truck' and gather snow for some Snow Science! Ask your child about the predictions they made related to snow, ice and water. Also, ask them what they chose to do with their cup of snow!

We were so happy to see Miss Lizzy again for music! She read us a great book that featured lots of instruments, and we were amazed to see how many instruments students knew! Ask your child what we learned about Conductors!

During K/1 time this week, we read the story, Over and Under The Snow. We then got to work on creating two collaborative murals that will be hung outside our classroom and Mrs. Strachan's classroom. The classroom buzzed with creative energy! Ask your child about their contribution to the mural, and what they learned about animals in the snow!

We are also LOVING our first Show and Tell theme of the year: Animals. So far, students have brought in a cheetah, an eagle, a walrus and a frog. Our goal is to see 22 different animals! Students have done a wonderful job preparing three clues to share with the class, and I am extremely impressed with their confidence speaking in front of the class. We are all looking forward to seeing the animals that will come in over the next two weeks!

The last school day of 2016!

We loved wearing our PJ's to school to celebrate the last day before our holiday break!

We also loved a surprise pancake and sausage breakfast with our grade 2 buddies in Ms. Kinsey's class!

We also built a blanket fort for our pizza party at lunch!

Ask your child to tell you about the events that took place in December. I hope you all have a safe, happy and HEALTHY holiday break. I look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday, January 3!
