All About Me Books

Whew! We have just had a fantastic few days getting to know our new students and their families. Thank you all for taking the time to come in! We are SO looking forward to seeing you all together tomorrow for our first official day of Kindergarten!!

As you have been sifting through the papers in your child's Home/School folder, you have most likely come across the "All About Me" book. We explained this book to some families, but we want to ensure that everyone has the same information. This book is your child's first Show and Tell assignment! Please have your child write their name on the front of the book (any assistance required is just fine!). Your child may choose to take pictures with a camera or to draw pictures on each page. Later on next week, we will send out a Show and Tell schedule with your child's name next to a date in September, which will be the day that your child will bring this book to school to show their classmates and teachers. Once your child is finished creating their book, please have them practise presenting it at home!

Thank you all for your positive energy and excitement for the year ahead!

Welcome to the Wonderful (and busy, fun, playful, active, engaging... did we mention busy?!) World of Kindergarten!! We are SO ready for a year filled with learning and laughter!

We are always looking for ways to best communicate happenings at school, and decided to try a blog this year! Our hope is that this will help parents feel informed and organized, and that we may also reduce our paper use in the process! Here, we will post our newsletters, calendars, transition schedules, reminders, etc.! We will also post pictures and updates about what our students are learning so that you have an opportunity to follow your child's classroom adventures. We know it is easy to forget to check a website regularly, so if you submit your email using the "Follow us via email" tab on the sidebar, you will receive an email each time we update this page! As this is something new for us, we would love your feedback as we go along!

We are very excited to meet all of our new students and their families. In your 'interview' time this week, you have received a yellow home/school folder filled with papers to keep at home and papers to send back to us. We realize that this can be overwhelming, so please check in with us if you still have questions after our initial meeting!

Interviews will take place Tues-Thurs this week, and then we will meet all of our Kindergarten students lined up outside against the wall on Friday morning at 8:15! Students will attend for the morning only (8:15-11:35) until Friday, Sept 13, when they will have their first full day with us!

In the weeks to come, you will receive information packages that will give you a better idea of what our play-based program looks like and the value of this type of learning environment. We look forward to getting to know you and answering any questions you might have about Kindergarten!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Natasha Burgess and Ms. Crystal Scott
