Jumping into October!

Wow, October is just around the corner! We have just posted our latest weekly newsletter (in "weekly newsletters" on the right side bar), as well as an October calendar (in "Transition/Show and Tell Schedules page on the right side bar) detailing dates for upcoming events, our show and tell schedule and the dates to bring letter of the week items for our Sound Connections program (you will learn more about that on Monday!).

Harvest Day Fun!

Whew! We have been having SO much fun outside! We all had a chance to go on a colour hunt outside- we realized it was a lot easier to find colours such as green and brown than it was to find purple and orange! We also had a fantastic Harvest Day today! We all had time in the garden with Mrs. Keiver today- she let us get right IN the garden and dig away! We found potatoes, onions, carrots, radishes, peas and LOTS of worms! Before we left the garden, we also got a few crab apples- yum! Mrs. Keiver made the day extra special by bringing our teachers great garden books to read to us... AND she made us delicious chocolate zucchini loaf for a snack! We are so lucky!!
*When you take over 75 pictures in one day, you know it's a great day! And those great days will make it really hard to chose which ones to post!

"Learning is experience, everything else is just information"- Albert Einstein

Mrs. Neil read us the story, "Crysanthemum" and we learned about being Heart Smoothers. Ask us about it!

We did a lot of fine motor skill development this week. We put nuts and bolts together, ripped and crumpled tissue paper (to be used for an art activity down the road), scooped beads into cups with tiny spoons, and cut playdough apart. Check out the serious look on some of those hard-at-work faces!

We learn best through play, as supported by LOADS of research (including a great article about play in nature just posted on the "Parent Resources" page). Here we can be seen building, creating, exploring, investigating, experimenting, testing and of course, getting in a brick boat to escape the looming lava!

We took some time in the sunshine to explore our shadows and the magic of sidewalk chalk. If you want to see what we did with our shadows, you'll have to come and check out our Open House this coming Thursday evening :)
