A Week of Buddy Time

This was a week of buddies! On Tuesday and Wednesday, we buddied up with the other K class and brought them to our favourite places outside. Ask your child what we taught our buddies about outdoor safety. We also introduced them to our adventure packs, which they loved. What a great group of leaders!

We also learned about some 'heart' words (words we will learn by heart) and received some fun crowns to wear while writing (the King of -ing, the Wiz of is, the Fuzz of was, the Love of of, the Star of are). These words came in very handy when writing about our outdoor experiences with our K buddies, and it was awesome to see everyone using these new classroom tools!

On Thursday, we buddied up with Mrs. Hammond's grade 3 class to create a Sound Garden. This is something Mrs. Hammond and I have been dreaming about doing for quite some time, so it was wonderful to see it all come together. Our painters did an amazing job on the letters, and our construction crew carefully placed each item on the wall. We also had children reading a story near our favourite tree, and a team collecting sticks to use in our Sound Garden. The connections between the K's and 3's was really incredible as well. I had many requests throughout the day from grade 3 students to do more work together. Not to worry, grade 3's... Mrs. Hammond and I have something special up our sleeves for next week!

We also had a really special afternoon on Thursday. We have been eagerly waiting to convert the new box that was dropped off into an elevator for our hotel, and there has been a lot of excitement about next steps for other hotel development. Some students have also expressed great interest in writing and creating mini books, and others have wanted to pursue building any chance they get! This was a perfect time to see where students took their learning, and our afternoon absolutely flew by! Ask your child what is happening in these pictures.
