Exciting Exploration!

This is one curious group of children!
Many students have been avidly exploring with paper each morning, discovering what is possible with tape, scissors and folding in creative ways.

On Monday, We were invited by Zachary and Matthew's mom to check out an amazing bee  colony that had landed in their yard. The picture on the left is what we could see of it that day, but I showed students the picture on the right, which was taken by Mike Honeyman. The colony was successfully transferred to a hive by a thankful bee keeper later that day. What an incredible learning opportunity! Thank you, Leanne, for having us over!

While out on our adventure, we also found a number of other interesting creatures.

On Tuesday, we explored the possibilities of combining creative thinking and natural materials. Students were asked to create their own art piece to showcase to their classmates- a sculpture, a song, a dance, or a story. It was amazing to see what they came up with in such a short time! Ask your child about the creations.

Tuesday was also the first day of students taking over teaching for the day! Almost every day until the middle of June, there has been a student signed up to teach for the day. They will plan the day with my support and lead many of our daily activities. Brooke was our first teacher, and she loved leading us through our new favourite game outside. This is my favourite part of the game- watching kids interact as "super cool humans"!
