Reflecting on learning outdoors

This past week, I presented a webinar focused on involving children in outdoor learning opportunities. With the simple desire to have a "fun backdrop" created by the kids, I asked the class to think about their favourite places to learn outside. This simple activity turned into a very powerful reflection exercise, with students working hard for over an hour to create a collaborative masterpiece. There is so much to this mural, and such intent behind each item you see. From the learning tree to the schoolhouse and the animals, students worked as a team to recreate the favourite features of their outdoor learning spaces. I encourage you to talk about this mural with your child and ask them about their favourite spaces featured in this mural.
