We have focused our journal time on creating WOW work-ask your child to fill you in! It has been amazing to watch how hard students are working, how they are helping each other, and how much they have grown this year! Detailed drawings and strings of letters to represent words are popping up all over the place. I am especially excited about the pride students are taking in doing their best work - students are requesting to go back and add more detail and are complimenting each other's work without ever being prompted. This classroom is the home to such a supportive community of learners! You can definitely see it in their eyes when they know they have worked really hard!
Students have also been practising following as a teacher leads them through a drawing activity. These cats and bunnies were evidence that this whole group can follow directions, and can also add their own creative touches to make the pictures unique!
